It was a traditional Monday dinner dish ( Dinner being lunch in England)
It was made with the leftover roast from Sunday ( the joint ) It was usually beef or lamb mostly lamb.
You took the old fashioned cast iron (clamped to the.
 top the table ) grinder and put in all the meat and the leftover vegetables together with onions and bread
Gravy was the left overs.  My meat grinder got old and rusty, it is long gone.
Happy st Patrick&#039;s Day. I have never thought of serving anything but corned beef and cabbage.
They serve a pretty good shepherd&#039;s pie at he Hungry Toad in Boulder.
